Like father, like sons: that saying certainly applies to Adrie van der Poel and his sons, Mathieu and David. On Saturday, they headed out together, which the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider shared on his social media. A few days later, David joined Freddy Ovett, and the Strava caption from the older of the two sons says it all.
"Daddy cool," was Mathieu’s fitting and telling caption for the photo of his father on Saturday. On Tuesday, Adrie went for a recovery ride, while David, along with Mathieu and his riding buddy Freddy Ovett, set off on an adventure. They rode 121 kilometers from the Spanish coast, and David felt it in his legs. "☠️" was his telling caption on his Strava post.
Mathieu, too, is already clocking plenty of kilometers at a steady pace in mid-November, as we’re accustomed to seeing from him. What he’s training for exactly, that is still unknown. So far, neither the Dutchman nor his team, Alpecin-Deceuninck, have communicated anything about a cyclo-cross season or a potential return date.
Until then: keep enjoying the rides!
