Earlier this week, Wout van Aert trained with his Dwars door Vlaanderen teammate, Steff Cras. Then, on Wednesday afternoon, Amund Grøndahl Jansen (Jayco-AlUla) joined him as his training partner. Both on Instagram and on Strava, the duo appeared to have a great time together, which is wonderful to see!

As it's widely known, the 29-year-old Van Aert is currently in Spain focusing on his comeback, which might potentially take place at the Tour of Norway. Van Aert had a serious crash at Dwars door Vlaanderen on March 27, resulting in several broken ribs, sternum, and a collarbone. Despite this, the rider from Kempen quickly resumed training.

"My Norwegian friend, who in a previous life spoke flawless Dutch": Van Aert about training buddy Grondahl Jansen

So it seems that Van Aert is thoroughly enjoying his time in Spain, as he hits the road to train with several colleagues. This time, he teamed up with former teammate Grøndahl Jansen. Both men shared various aspects of their trip on social media, but it was the language jokes that particularly stood out. Indeed, Van Aert (as well as the Norwegian himself) teased Grøndahl Jansen about his Dutch proficiency.

Lost with a local guide was the title of Van Aert's Strava ride, while the Scandinavian chuckled in a story on his Instagram. "Soon, when he passes his cycling exam, the L can go away," reads the somewhat cryptic and unclear message, followed by clarification in a subsequent post: "Sorry for my Norwegian, it's 'passes,' not 'exists.' In Norway, we pass our exams. And we call it an 'eksamen." So, the mood was clearly light-hearted. Van Aert shared Grøndahl Jansen's story with the caption: "On the road with my Norwegian friend, who once spoke flawless Dutch in a previous life."
