🎥 Van der Poel enjoys (with Ovett) Spanish World Championship preparation: Dutchman opens box of tricks

Mathieu van der Poel is in his beloved Spain, preparing for his final races of the season. As always, the 29-year-old Dutchman is doing so near Alicante, where he also has a home. He regularly trains with Freddy Ovett, who shared a delightful video of MVDP on his Instagram.

In the middle of an otherwise deserted road, the world champion from Kapellen shows for a moment how well he is in control of the bike. For seconds, we see him balancing on his rear wheel while playfully.

Remco Evenepoel, who sometimes trains with the men, also saw Ovett's video. "Still working on the cheers, mate," said the The Flying Dutchman, referring to images we see later in the video: Ovett getting off his bike in Van der Poelesque fashion, as if he were the winner of a big race. "I never win anything, so I have no real chance to practice it," Ovett responded to Evenepoel with a wink.
