The upcoming, challenging World Cycling Championships in Zürich are attracting more and more top riders. Earlier, it was reported that Spain will bring almost all of their top climbers to Switzerland, and that Primoz Roglic and Tadej Pogacar will lead the way for a strong Slovenia.
These days, however, more big names are being added to the list of climbers. The Americans are also bringing an impressive selection. On paper, Brandon McNulty is the man to watch, along with Visma | Lease a Bike rider Matteo Jorgenson. They will be supported by Neilson Powless and Magnus Sheffield, among others. The Ecuadorians have also completed their roster. The in-form Richard Carapaz will lead the Ecuadorian team, as Jhonatan Narváez is absent. The latter was allowed to start at the Olympics, at the expense of Carapaz.
Mads Pedersen and Mattias Skjelmose had already been confirmed as Denmark's leaders. It’s now clear that Andreas Kron will also be a strong contender alongside them. Portugal, on the other hand, is fully backing one man: João Almeida. He will compete in both the road race and the time trial, and is hoping to recover fully from the illness that plagued him during the Vuelta.
