Bahrain Victorious will welcome a new Belgian rider in 2026. Alec Segaert is transferring to the Middle Eastern team. The Flemish powerhouse is coming over from Lotto.
Segaert first went through the development team before the now 22-year-old made the switch to the Belgian team's main squad in early 2023. Segaert's palmares mainly consist of time trial victories, including the European time trial title in the U23 category. In 2024, the West Flemish rider won the time trial in the Renewi Tour. In that WorldTour race, the specialist beat Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) and Stefan Bissegger (EF Education-EasyPost). With the Grand Prix Criquielion, he also has a stage race victory to his name.
Bahrain Victorious is delighted to announce the arrival of Segaert. The team announced on its team website that the rider will join the team with his individual qualities as a time trialist and at the same time play a crucial role in supporting GC riders in stage races. His time trial victory in the Renewi Tour, where Segaert finished second in the GC, is particularly highlighted. “He excels on varied terrain and will be a valuable addition to the team's ambitions, both in one-day and multi-day races.”

Alec Segaert transfers to the WorldTour: "The ideal next step"

“Alec is a young rider with huge potential, and we believe he will play an important role for us both in the Classics and in supporting our GC ambitions,” said Managing Director Milan Eržen. “He has the talent, mindset, and work ethic we value at Bahrain Victorious, and we look forward to helping him continue his progression at the highest level.”
Segaert himself sees his upcoming transfer as the next step in his career. “Team Bahrain Victorious is the ideal next step in my personal development as a WT rider. The team is professional and ambitious. I am, too, and I hope this move will help me achieve new goals in my career. I am convinced that I will fit in well with the Classics team and be a valuable asset to the GC riders in the stage races.”
Segaert will join his new team alongside his 26-year-old brother Loïc Segaert, who is sports director at Bahrain Victorious. Several other transfers are expected to join the team, as previously reported on this website.
