The cobbled classics are now behind us, which means it’s time to shift our focus to the hillier races. That series kicks off this Friday with the Brabantse Pijl, which, despite not being a WorldTour event, has managed to attract an impressive field. Among those racing in Flemish Brabant are Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert. IDLProCycling.com lists the rest of the participants.
Evenepoel will make his season debut in the race. “I feel good and motivated for the Brabantse Pijl,” he said in his preview. “But I’m not going there with any specific ambitions. The main goal is to get back into race rhythm after a long break.”
At Visma | Lease a Bike, Van Aert and Tiesj Benoot are on the start list, while Tom Pidcock will lead the team for Q36.5. In addition, the entry list, updated three days before the race, includes strong riders such as Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost) and Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty). UAE Team Emirates-XRG is also fielding a strong lineup, featuring Jan Christen, Florian Vermeersch, Tim Wellens, and Jhonatan Narváez.

For the women’s race, it would normally be time for another clash between Demi Vollering of FDJ-Suez and SD Worx-Protime rider Anna van der Breggen. However, there are currently two different start lists circulating. One that includes Vollering and one that doesn’t. So it’s a matter of waiting for an official update from FDJ-Suez.
