The Tour of Turkey can't get any better for dsm-firmenich PostNL! The Dutch team celebrated a victory on day one with Fabio Jakobsen, and surprisingly, it was lead-out Tobias Lund Andresen who triumphed on day four. The 21-year-old Dane repeated this feat the following day, with Jakobsen trailing him to finish second.
"This is incredible," Andresen exclaimed after the race. "We were riding for Fabio today, but the finale was very chaotic, and he told me to go for my own chance in the sprint. I launched the sprint and it was such a shock that I almost forgot to celebrate. It was amazing to cross the finish line and see that Fabio still took second."
The fact that Jakobsen had some reserve left, but the finish line was already upon them, turned out to be no issue. The Dutchman also celebrated after Andresen crossed the finish line first. "The key moment was the descent, where we needed to be in a good position. The entire team did a fantastic job. We executed our plan perfectly."
"I let a few guys ahead to avoid catching too much wind," Andresen continued his analysis. "Today we showed class as a team. Fabio congratulated me after the finish; he was just as happy as I was. He's a classy guy. We're looking forward to the next sprints this weekend."
