Tough break for Visma | Lease a Bike and Gloag: Brit must end season early again, just like in 2023

Last year it happened at the end of August, and in 2024 it happened at the beginning of September: Visma | Lease a Bike rider Thomas Gloag has suffered a crash during training severe enough that he must end his season, as reported by his team in a brief statement on their website.

"The Brit broke both his elbows in a training crash. He has since undergone successful surgery and now needs to rest for a month," the press release reads, concluding with some encouraging words. "As a result, he will not race again this season. We wish Thomas a speedy recovery!"

In 2023, Gloag's season also ended in a sad manner after a training crash. The then-Jumbo-Visma rider was hit by a car and sustained a knee injury.

However, Gloag made a strong comeback from that crash, winning a stage in the Tour of Czech Republic earlier this year in impressive fashion.
