Here we go again: another top transfer in women’s cycling, to give Tour winner Niewiadoma extra support

Cecile Uttrup Ludwig will move from FDJ-Suez to Canyon //SRAM Racing in 2025. Both the rider and the team announced this on Friday morning. The team of Tour winner Katarzyna Niewiadoma has signed the Danish rider, likely as a reinforcement for their overall team. This marks yet another top transfer in the women’s peloton, which will get a significant overhaul as we head into 2025.

Last summer, the Polish rider won the Tour de France Femmes after a nail-biting battle with Demi Vollering. However, it was also noticeable that Niewiadoma often had to do lots and lots of work on her own. For this reason, Canyon //SRAM sought reinforcement. Uttrup Ludwig finished eighth in this year’s Giro d’Italia Women and is a strong climber. She also won a hilly stage in the Tour Down Under.

Ludwig’s old team seems set to become Vollering’s new team

It has been reported a lot, but there have indeed been many transfers in the women’s peloton, with Lidl-Trek especially strengthening their lineup. However, they also lost Elisa Longo Borghini to UAE Team ADQ. Visma | Lease a Bike reinforced their team with Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, while Vollering is also set to leave SD Worx-Protime. It seems likely that she will move to Ludwig’s former team, FDJ-Suez.

"I am immensely looking forward to joining CANYON//SRAM Racing for 2025 and onward. I love the team’s aggressive racing style and not being afraid to lose. I am sure I will fit right in with this kind of racing. It’s clear from my talks with the team that the support from the team and its staff is very professional, and I feel confident that they will help me in my further development as a rider. Bring on 2025," she announced.
