INEOS Grenadiers seems to be working with new helmets for 2024. This week, the British cycling team showcased photos of the design on social media, with the most notable feature being that the helmet covers the ears. Is this a new trend? The helmet is designed in collaboration with
Kask. Speaking to
La Gazzetta dello Sport, Luca Oggiano, an enthusiast in aerodynamics, mentioned that the distinctive design offers both aerodynamic and practical benefits. For instance, riders should experience less wind noise in their ears with this helmet.
Whether INEOS riders will always use the new design from now on remains to be seen. In the shared photo series, we also see Geraint Thomas sporting a 'normal' version of the Kask helmet. Nothing new under the sun. For example, sprinters from various teams use a fast aero helmet for flat races, but at other times, they may choose a different helmet that allows more air to pass through.
There has already been a lot of innovation at INEOS Grenadiers in recent months. Changes have been made at the top of the management, and the team's roster will also look different. Riders like Tao Geoghegan Hart, Daniel Felipe Martínez and Pavel Sivakov have left the team. On the other hand, new riders such as Tobias Foss have joined.
