With the Flèche Wallonne over, spring is drawing to a close. But on Sunday, there is still a big event to look forward to with Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and for the riders who have failed to make much of an impression this spring, it is their last chance to stand out. Yet many people expect it will simply be between Remco Evenepoel and Tadej Pogacar, who will make La Doyenne win the third moment of the season. This is also the opinion of the podcast Wuyts & Vlaeminck. In recent years, Liège-Bastogne-Liège has been dominated by Evenepoel and Pogacar. According to Belgian analysts, there is a good chance it will be between the two riders again. "I am 95% sure that one of the two will win on Sunday," says
Jan Bakelants. "I think there is a 90% chance," says
Michel Wuyts, who shares the opinion of his fellow analyst.
"It's very likely that we'll finally see another duel between Evenepoel and Pogacar in Liège-Bastogne-Liège," Wuyts continues. "Evenepoel has shown in recent races that there's little chance of him suffering a setback. He was immediately on form in the Brabantse Pijl and the Amstel Gold Race, but only in the Flèche Wallonne, where he ultimately fell short."

Will Pogacar be the strongest again on Sunday?
Battle expected between Pogacar and Evenepoel at La Redoute
And Pogacar, according to the Belgian analyst, is still performing well. "I expect Pogacar to be still very strong and likely to attack on La Redoute. And I expect Evenepoel to keep up with him until Roche aux Faucons or even further into the race."
Bakelants expects roughly the same race. "As a team, you can have a strategy to possibly surprise with the victory, but that's wishful thinking. Pogacar and Evenepoel are so superior to the rest that if one of them goes on La Redoute, no one can follow. There is simply no chance for outsiders for Sunday; it's between those two."
