Steve Cummings is joining Jayco AlUla. The 43-year-old former pro cyclist, was looking for a new challenge after his (forced) departure from INEOS Grenadiers, and he has found it with the team that includes Dylan Groenewegen and Koen Bouwman. The announcement of Cummings' arrival came in a
press release on Monday morning. It is described as "a new chapter." Cummings shared his enthusiasm: "I’m really excited to be joining Team Jayco AlUla. This team has a strong reputation for its professionalism, and commitment to success, which aligns with my own values and experiences in sport. I’m looking forward to contributing to its ongoing success, helping all my teammates reach their full potential."
"For me, this is more than just joining a team," Cummings added. The Brit, who also worked as a sports director at INEOS Grenadiers in recent years, reportedly left the team due to
friction with key figure Tom Pidcock. Cummings doesn’t seem too upset about it now. "It’s an opportunity to be part of a culture that celebrates growth, resilience, and meaningful results. Naturally through having a long career within cycling, on and off the bike, I already know a lot of team members and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get started."

Cummings brings "attention to detail" to Jayco AlUla’s new group
Director Brent Copeland is delighted with the fresh addition to the performance staff. "His personality and professionalism is something that we believe will fit very well within our culture. Steve has such a wide skill set and is a very experienced sport director. I was truly impressed by Steve’s attention to detail and visionary approach during our first conversation about the team. I immediately felt that he would bring a dynamic energy that we would all benefit from."
At Jayco AlUla, the changes just keep coming. The Australian cycling team, known in recent years for stoically sticking with the same group of people,
said goodbye this winter to its leading rider Simon Yates, who will ride for Visma | Lease a Bike. Ben O’Connor has been brought in as his successor.
