Pidcock goes all in for world title in third discipline at World Championships. Here's how he plans to pull it off

The British teams for the World Cycling Championships in Zürich have been announced. Both the men's and women's teams are chasing gold with strong rosters, but the leaders have already been determined.

The British men's team will travel to Switzerland with a single leader. Yes, indeed, it's Tom Pidcock who will take the reins for Team Great Britain. The 25-year-old INEOS Grenadiers rider will be aiming for a world title on the road, as he already holds world titles in mountain biking and cyclo-cross. In this mission, the two-time Olympic champion will receive support from the Yates twins: both Adam (UAE Team Emirates) and Simon (Jayco-AlUla) will be at the start.

In addition to the Yates brothers, the recent winner of the Tour of Britain, Stevie Williams (Israel-Premier Tech), will also offer his support, as will Josh Tarling (INEOS Grenadiers). The latter will also compete in the time trial and is naturally considered one of the top favorites. The rest of the selection will be rounded out by Oscar Onley (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL), Mark Donovan (Q36.5 Pro Cycling), James Knox (Soudal Quick-Step) and Jake Stewart (Israel-Premier Tech).

Henderson to lead the charge for the women

For the women's team, all eyes will be on Anna Henderson (Visma | Lease a Bike). She has a strong chance, particularly in the time trial, where she won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. In the road race, she will be supported by Elinor Barker (Uno-X Mobility), Lizzie Holden (UAE Team ADQ) and Claire Steels (Movistar Team). Normally, Pfeiffer Georgi would also be at the start, but the Team dsm-firmenich PostNL rider suffered fractures to her hand and neck in a crash during the Tour de France Femmes.

The World Cycling Championships will begin in Zürich on Sunday, September 22, with the women's time trial, followed by the men's time trial on the same day.
