UAE Team Emirates continues to excel, and not just with Tadej Pogacar. The youngsters within the team from the United Arab Emirates are performing more than adequately. In the Tour of Asturias, where the team achieved a clean sweep, the overall victory went to the just 20-year-old Isaac del Toro.
The Spanish stage race was dominated on the first two days (as expected) by the UAE team, with victories for Del Toro and Antonio Morgado (another huge talent). On day three, Finn Fisher-Black took the prime spot, while the overall victory went to Del Toro. The Mexican himself finished an impressive second in the final stage to Oviedo.
It was Del Toro's first overall victory as a professional, and he reflected on it with great satisfaction on his team's website. "It was an amazing stage race, where the team performed wonderfully. They even did such good work that they ended up riding entirely in service of my overall victory. And successfully so."
"This first overall victory as a professional means a lot to me," concluded Del Toro. "I was also able to help my teammates in the other stages. That’s something I’m happy with and it makes me feel good. Sharing such moments together is simply fantastic. They really deserved it. I am very satisfied with the feeling. Hopefully, I can continue this momentum into the next races."
