The women's time trial will kick off this year's elite World Championships. On Sunday, the ladies will complete just under 30 kilometers, starting in Gossau and finishing in Zurich. IDLProCycling.com will guide you through it!
The Netherlands has towered over the last ten years regarding time trial titles. Of the last ten editions, a lady in orange has stood on the top spot six times, including five times in the previous seven years. Only Chloé Dygert - 2019 and 2023 - managed to break that streak of Annemiek van Vleuten, Anna van der Breggen, and Ellen van Dijk.
American Dygert won last year in Scotland, where top favorite Marlen Reusser failed to cross the finish line ahead of Australia's Grace Brown and Austria's Christina Schreiner.

Women's World Time Trial Championship 2024: Course, weather and times
On Sunday, the men will face 46 kilometers, while the women will settle for 15 kilometers less. Nevertheless, the course is quite similar, as the women's race
starts in Gossau and moves smoothly onto the men's course.
That means the road starts to climb steadily before reaching the highest spot at the first measuring point. At Uetlikon am See, after 10.4 kilometers, the ladies have completed a few kilometers at a five-percent average.
The following eight kilometers are also hilly, but then it's in one long, straight line of about 15 kilometers peddling along Lake Zurich. Here, they also time it again after 20.5 kilometers. We arrive—as in all races—at the
echseläutzenplatz, and the riders have a few kilometers on it at a five percent average.
Weather
The weather conditions on Sunday favor the riders. It will be Indian summer on Lake Zurich, with hardly any wind, no chance of precipitation, and a temperature of around 22 degrees Celsius.
Times
Start: 12:00 pm (first rider)
Finish: 2:15 pm (last rider)

This could be a very interesting title battle in the time trial, as several strong women at the start could well be competing against each other. Four of them attract the most adulation:
Chloe Dygert (United States),
Demi Vollering (Netherlands), Grace Brown (Australia), and Lotte Kopecky (Belgium).
Dygert will start as the defending champion, which she does with a brand new two-year contract with Canyon/SRAM in the bag. The American has only ridden seventeen race days since last year's World Championships in Scotland and has not won, so the two-time world champion is not exactly in top form.
Dan Brown is the Olympic champion from Paris. The Australian stops after this year and thus sees this World Championship as her last trick, for which she will be more than m
Demi Vollering again won the time trial in the Tour de France Femmes. The Dutchwoman from SD Worx-Protime stayed ahead of everyone on that short course and thus gained confidence for the World Championships in Switzerland, her big goal this fall.
Kopecky recently showed at the European Championship that she is a woman to keep an eye on at this World Championship. The Belgian won in Hasselt with 43 seconds ahead of multiple champion Ellen van Dijk, while number three Christina Schweinberger had to admit more than a minute in Hasselt.
Those two ladies, along with Olympic silver medalist Anna Henderson of Great Britain, Vittoria Guazzini of Italy, Cedrine Kerbaol, Juliette Labous of France, and Brodie Chapman of Australia, are among women who can challenge for a top five or even the podium.
