The transfer carousel of 2024 is still working overtime, but the rumors continue vigorously for now. For example, Rémi Cavagna's one-year adventure with Movistar is already over, and Gianni Mosconis is also leaving his current team, Soudal Quick-Step.

First, that French time trialist quit Soudal Quick-Step last year after seven years with Patrick Lefevere's team. The time trialist moved to Spanish Movistar before 2024, where he had a challenging year. His best result? A fourth place at the French time trial championships. On the occasion of that championship, he gave an all-important interview to l'Équipe. In it, he explained why it was all so difficult.

"The most difficult thing is the language barrier," began the then 28-year-old Cavagna. "I have improved my Spanish, but I get stuck when I want to express myself. The Spaniards here are always together; all communication via earphones is in Spanish. That makes it difficult during the challenging moments in the race." Partly as a result, the Frenchman saw his performance only diminish. "I came here to improve myself, to become an even better time trialist, but I broke down in a few months. A 50th place in the Renewi Tour is just not my level," it sounded at the time.

According to AS, despite Cavagna still having a contract through 2026, the Movistar era of the now 29-year-old time trialist is coming to an early end. The language barrier has been such a problem for the Frenchman that, according to the Spanish medium, he looks destined to ride for Groupama-FDJ next year. The French team would have the best papers to take over Cavagna's services.

Gianni Moscon is also leaving his current formation after one year

Moscon also seems to be making a transfer after a one-year stay. After two years with Astana, the Italian arrived at Lefevere's formation last year. Before that, the now 30-year-old rider was part of Team Sky for six years, later becoming INEOS. This year, he was cycling quite anonymously in the colors of Soudal Quick-Step, where he helped Remco Evenepoel in the Tour de France. He looks set to perform that service for Primoz Roglic in 2025.

Indeed, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Moscon will switch to Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. Ciro Scognamiglio, journalist for the Italian newspaper, reported this on his X-account. "Gianni Moscon will leave Soudal Quick-Step at the end of 2024, and sources have confirmed that he will join Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe next year. The deal is done; only the official announcement is still missing," it read.
