One of the big outsiders for the victory in Milan-San Remo this year is undoubtedly the 24-year-old rider Soren Waerenskjold. The Norwegian talent of Uno-X Mobility is set to start in La Primavera for the first time on Saturday and has already shown he can win this season. IDLProCycling.com approached him for an interview during the team presentation.

It is not often that you get to test yourself against riders like Van der Poel and Pogacar. How do you view the race?

"It's going to be tough, but I'm looking forward to the race. Mainly to see how I compare to the big guys. Hopefully, my legs will be in top form because I'll need those to be able to follow those guys."

You have had a good season so far. With all the races you have already done, how fit are you?

"So far, so good. The Tirreno went well, but I felt a bit tired on Wednesday in Milan-Turin. So hopefully, I will have better legs and a good position for the last two climbs."

Are you an outsider for a top ten finish?

"I think I'd be very happy to finish between five and ten. But it's not easy. We'll see. I'm aiming for a top result, but the real contenders for the top five will be closely matched."

In a team like this, you can often do better than people expect. What are your goals?

"Definitely true. I've never done a race like this one. I haven't even seen the finish, with the descent, yet. So I'm just trying to do my best and prepare myself for the races that are still to come in Belgium. Roubaix is my big goal. That race is flat and suits me better. I'm trying to build towards that in the coming weeks, to gain confidence and also to avoid crashing. Then hopefully, I'll get better and better."
