The day after Paris-Roubaix is usually not a pleasant one for a cyclist. After the relentless pounding over the cobblestones in the Hell of the North, their hands are typically covered in blisters. But that didn’t stop some of Sunday’s super stars from getting active again the next day. So what did Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert do the day after Roubaix?
Van der Poel’s very successful spring season of 2025 has come to an end. “It’s time for vacation,” the Dutchman said after the race. So no Amstel Gold Race for him, but instead, time to relax. And by now, you probably know where MVDP likes to unwind: on the golf course! He shared a few videos of himself on his Instagram Stories.

Van Aert does have a busy schedule ahead of him. In just under three weeks, the Giro d’Italia kicks off in Albania, but the Belgian rider from Visma | Lease a Bike will also be at the start line of the Brabantse Pijl and Amstel Gold Race this Friday and Sunday. On Instagram, he’s made it a habit to post weekly updates, and on Strava we can see that he completed a nearly 65-kilometer gravel ride starting from Knokke.
Tadej Pogacar used his reach on Instagram to thank his teammates and reassure them that one day, “we’ll have that Roubaix cobblestone in our hands.” Meanwhile, Mads Pedersen also looked back on his spring campaign. “It just wasn’t meant to be for me to win my first monument this year, but that won’t stop me from dreaming and trying again next year. I want to thank everyone for the support,” wrote the Danish Lidl-Trek team leader on social media. His teammate Jasper Stuyven shared some photos of his battered body after a crash in Paris-Roubaix. “My race was over before it had really started. Now it’s time to heal the wounds and look ahead.”
