How fast can you actually go over the cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix? Tim van Dijke tested it on behalf of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe on the brutal stretches of the Hell of the North. The rider from Zeeland was towed by a quad, and in true Red Bull style, the footage was shared across the sponsor’s social media channels.

Van Dijke – along with his brother Mick – is in his first year with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe and is immediately part of a strong spring classics squad that also includes Laurence Pithie and Oier Lazkano. So far, that hasn’t yet resulted in the desired outcomes, although some mitigating circumstances can be cited.

Tim, for example, performed well during Opening Weekend but had to withdraw from Dwars door Vlaanderen due to illness, and then suffered two punctures in the Tour of Flanders. Lazkano saw his entire spring season derailed by illness, while Pithie had to deal with crashes and flat tires in races like Milan-San Remo, E3 Saxo, and Dwars door Vlaanderen.
Last year, Tim and Mick van Dijke showed what they’re capable of in Roubaix by keeping up with the best riders in the race, which gives hope for Sunday. Judging by the footage below, things should work out—but what exactly was the top speed?
