Visma | Lease a Bike sees nutrition experts leave to Red Bull, but gets replacements from Denmark and Maastricht

Visma | Lease a Bike has strengthened its nutrition department with new additions. Danish expert Søren Lavrsen joins from the elite sports organization Team Denmark, while Cas Fuchs, a university lecturer in the Department of Human Biology at Maastricht University, will also reinforce the team as a specialist.
The Dutch cycling team saw two of its nutrition experts depart over the winter. Martijn Redegeld was appointed Head of Elite Sports at football club Ajax, while Asker Jeukendrup made a permanent move to Red Bull and its cycling team. "Visma | Lease a Bike has taken the time to find absolute top experts in the field of nutrition after these positions became vacant," the team stated in a press release.
This led to the appointment of Lavrsen, who takes on the title of Lead Performance Nutritionist. "This felt like a new challenge and an opportunity to work in a WorldTour cycling team. To me, this team represents top-level professionalism with a human touch. I’m looking forward to contributing with all my knowledge and expertise," said the 51-year-old Dane.

Matheij Heijboer, as Head of Performance joys the addition. "I am very pleased that Søren is joining our team of nutrition experts. - I am not sure if it is the hardest to win. In Flanders and Roubaix well before the finish the Peleton will be decimated and the race will normally be won by the best rider of the day or maybe 2nd or 3rd in case of a mechanical or unlucky break especially in case of Roubaix. In San Remo just before the finish there will still be several riders in contention and they are hard to ditch. For the best riders it is a race hard to win since it is not so selective. But if you are not a top 5 rider but still a top 10 rider this race is your best change to win.
