Zingle finally heads to Tour with Cofidis, bringing ambitions to Grand Départ

Cofidis is the third French team to finalize its selection for the Tour de France. On Monday, the team, led by Cédric Vasseur, added Axel Zingle and Piet Allegaert to the previously announced six, which includes Guillaume Martin and Bryan Coquard as sprinters.

"It's no surprise that we've put together the best possible team to achieve our goals," explains team boss Vasseur. "We have a balanced team. For the sprints, we're counting on Coquard, who will have Alexis Renard, Axel, and Piet for support. In the mountains, we're relying on Martin, Ion Izagirre, Simon Geschke and Jésus Herrada, who will mainly be hunting for stage wins."

Zingle is now set for the Tour, after L'Equipe earlier reported that he would be left out due to his impending transfer to Visma | Lease a Bike. "I'm very happy about this because it's the most important race of the year. There are many stages for the sprinters, where I will support Bryan. In the hillier stages, I want to chase my own success."

Le Coq recently won a stage in the Tour of Switzerland. "I'm very happy to be back at the start of the Tour, where I'd like to win a stage. We're all highly motivated to achieve this goal, myself in particular. But I know all too well how difficult it is. I've been flirting with a stage win for many years, without having achieved it."

Last year, Cofidis won two stages in the Tour with Ion Izagirre and Victor Lafay. The Basque is back despite a fall, while Lafay has yet to make his debut for Decathlon AG2R following a long injury after his transfer.
