This Sunday in Besançon, the next World Cup is scheduled for the pros and the U23 men. Dutch rider Senna Remijn will also be present, and given his recent performance, the rookie may have ambitions again. IDLProCycling.com spoke with him about his dreams and expectations!

At only 18 years young, Remijn immediately showed his potential in the first World Cup race for the U23 category. In Dublin, he finished nicely in tenth place, making him the only 18-year-old in the top ten along with compatriot Keije Solen. "I think I can be delighted with this; this is excellent for the first World Cup," Remijn reflected on the race in Ireland. "The start went pretty well, even though I was slightly stuck. Maybe I started a bit too fast because I missed the rhythm. So, I had to take it easier on myself after a lap."

"From that moment on, I had to recover, and then I also crashed, so I lost my rhythm somewhat. In the last lap, it went well, so you notice that it was difficult," said Remijn, who had already done better in Dublin than in the X2O events in November. "In Lokeren and Hamme, I started completely from the back, so I had to advance spot by spot."

Remijn impresses at World Cup

After Dublin, Remijn headed to Spain, where the number three of the junior World Cup on the road owns a stellar Strava top ten time on the prestigious Coll de Rates. He demonstrated that this training camp had its effects in Herentals, where Remijn finished fourth after Tibor Del Grosso, Kay De Bruyckere, and David Haverdings.

In Hulst and Zonhoven, he continued that successful performance by finishing sixth and fifth in the World Cup, which is very impressive at his young age. "In Hulst, I couldn't do much better, but in Zonhoven, I could. I lost eight seconds or so every lap in the sand, so there I thought: jeez. I have enough strength and condition, but it was so bad technically. I was annoyed with myself, so I want to discuss that with my trainer and Gerben de Knegt because that has to improve."

From January 1, the number three of the Junior World Championships on the road officially competes for the Alpecin-Deceuninck development team. "They already provide excellent support; I can use everything: trainer, training sessions, etc. Philip Walsleben is now my new trainer, and he works in the same way as my old trainer, but he just goes the extra mile. That is necessary, so I only like that," concludes the friendly Zeeuw.
