- Remco and Lipowitz getting a quiet day was massive. You could see Evenepoel cruising in the wheels, saving matches for the Pyrenees. Also agree on Pidcock: 10s behind Remco is fine, 5 minutes is panic time. Tactically sound all round.

- Not sure the piece gave enough credit to Schmid and Tejada for that late move. Van Gils was isolated, yes, but the chase was a bit passive from several teams. Feels like the analysis glossed over that.

- Loved how UAE played it today. Sending McNulty and Wellens up the road to give Pogi a breather was textbook. Shame Brandon couldn’t finish it off, but ninth for Tim after that workload is still decent. Team GC creeping closer to Lidl-Trek is a big subplot.

Highly unlikely that Pogi will race the Vuelta this year, given his announced schedule. And he may feel the need to feed the troops, and enhance team unity, by allowing one of his chief supporters to gain the glory of a Grand Tour win. But, I coud be wrong.

- Mads Pedersen boss move to close that gap and enlarge the break. That was the key moment of the stage, IMO. Philipsen nabbing the sprint points = smart consolation. MvdP mañana—he’ll light it up again soon.

- Solid piece but a tad harsh to say “wasn’t mentioned once” in the report—context matters. If he missed the split and sat up on the final climb, there’s not much more to add. Still, would’ve liked a note on whether he tried the second wave when Pedersen dragged it across.

- Question: how did UAE manage the tempo if they had two riders up the road? Was Pog just happy to let the GC guys sit in because Ballon d’Alsace wasn’t selective enough after the break went?

- Adrie’s quote is classic—“he often just doesn’t feel like it.” Brutally honest, but he’s right: MvdP can do 6–7% when he’s switched on. Today just wasn’t that kind of day. Props to Alpecin for pivoting and getting Philipsen the intermediate points.

- Loved the tactical breakdown. Big surprise not seeing MvdP in that 57-man move, especially with the flat first 150k. Maybe he burned a match early trying to bridge and just never got the gap?
