Kimberley Le Court from Mauritius pulled off a sensational stunt by winning Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The AG Insurance-Soudal Team rider fought back to the front on the Roche-aux-Faucons and then finished it off in the sprint, beating Puck Pieterse and Demi Vollering. "I am speechless," Le Court said in the flash interview, still struggling to comprehend her achievement. Things looked difficult for the rider in the last part of the race. "At one point, I was dropped, but I just wanted to get back. You should never give up; that has been proven today. On the Roche-aux-Faucons, I suddenly found my legs again. I got into a rhythm that I could maintain."
Le Court picked up Marlen Reusser and Lotte Kopecky, who had fallen behind, and then joined Pieterse and Vollering. The three of them then caught up with Cédrine Kerbaol. Le Court had already made up her mind. "I tried to save my energy for the sprint. However, I started to suffer from cramps in the last five kilometers." Although her body was protesting, Le Court did not let herself be deterred. She got into the slipstream of Vollering, who had to lead the sprint from the front. "I really wanted to sprint from the second wheel. I gave it my all; it's amazing."

Le Court: "I was close so many times this year"
Le Court believes that missing the breakaway initially may have been an advantage in the end. "When I jumped on the Roche-aux-Faucons, I felt very strong, especially compared to the others. I could see that they were struggling. I was too, but because I had come back, I sensed that I had a little more energy left."
"First, we had to close the gap to Cédrine Kerbaol," Le Court continues, expressing her admiration for the French rider. "She's such a good rider, especially on the descents.’ Le Court was out of her comfort zone on the downhill sections in the final phase. ‘I almost died five times."
However, Le Court overcame all obstacles and kept going in Liège. "I wasn't sure until the sprint. I just went for it and didn't look back." Le Court will never forget her impressive victory in the Mauritius champion's jersey. "I saw the Mauritius flag along the side of the course today. I'm just so proud. I am so happy to win this race. I've been so close so many times."
