The countdown is on for the Hell of the North, coming up this Sunday. There, Tadej Pogacar will once again go head-to-head with the other top stars of modern cycling. The Slovenian rider from UAE Team Emirates – XRG now knows his support crew, as his team announced the lineup for Paris–Roubaix on Wednesday afternoon.
Speculation had lingered for a while, but by the end of March, the suspense was over: Pogacar confirmed he would indeed take part in Paris–Roubaix. The world champion will be racing the Hell of the North for the first time, facing off once again against the likes of Mathieu van der Poel. Mads Pedersen, Filippo Ganna, and Wout van Aert are also eyeing victory in the Roubaix velodrome, setting the stage for another epic showdown among the very best.
The Dutchman from Alpecin-Deceuninck—like the other big spring classics stars—was defeated by Pogacar last Sunday in the Tour of Flanders. After a blistering attack on the Oude Kwaremont, Pogi rode solo to victory. But according to the Slovenian, this Sunday will be a completely different story. “Paris–Roubaix is a totally different race,” Pogacar said.

According to the three-time Tour de France winner, there’s a clear difference between this Sunday and last. “It’s new territory, but I’m fully embracing the challenge. I’ll give it my best,” said Pogacar, who is expecting a very tough race. “But I think, given the form I’m in right now, this is the right moment to at least give it a try. We put on a great fight last weekend in Flanders, and I hope we can put on another great show this Sunday.”
Pogi will once again be backed by a very strong UAE squad. Sebastian Molano, Nils Politt, and Mikkel Bjerg will serve as the team's powerhouse engines, while Tim Wellens, Florian Vermeersch, and Antonio Morgado are expected to position their leader well heading into the crucial cobbled sectors. “We have a really strong team for this race, with guys who have a lot of experience. That’s something we can definitely use to our advantage,” Pogacar said.
