A blow for SD Worx-Protime: Climbing talent leaves and becomes the latest addition to ambitious Lidl-Trek

Niamh Fisher-Black is moving from SD Worx-Protime to Lidl-Trek. This was announced by her new team on its social media channels. The New Zealander, sister of Finn and a true pocket climber, becomes the latest major addition to the German-American team.

Fisher-Black is the fourth major signing for next year, following Movistar's announcements. This lightweight rider has plenty of experience in stage races, often serving as a key support rider for Demi Vollering, and she won a stage at this year's Tour of Valencia.

"Of course, the change also brings challenges, but I am highly motivated for what the coming years will bring and for my move to Lidl-Trek," the petite climber said on the team website. "Lidl-Trek has long been an appealing team to me; I admire their aggressive racing style and professional approach. This is evident even from the outside; their commitment to their riders, rider development, and their ambitious plans for the future."

"During my initial talks with the team, I was quickly drawn to their innovative approach and the confidence they had in their goals and how I would fit into that plan. It was also important for me that I could see myself fitting in with the team and the riders and staff they already have. I am looking forward to getting to know the team and exploring what I can achieve in stage races and the general classifications," said Fisher-Black, who also won a stage in this year's Giro d'Italia Women.

Once again, Lidl-Trek has made a significant acquisition, marking another major shift in women's cycling. SD Worx loses one of its top climbers to its biggest competitor, after top rider Demi Vollering also announced her departure.
