Magnus Cort won the tricky final stage of O Gran Camiño. In the gravel stage to Santiago de Compostela, the Dane of Uno-X Mobility dominated the sprint of a depleted peloton. He took his third stage win and the green jersey, but the GC victory went to Derek Gee, who managed to hang on to his leader's jersey.

Up until now, it has been a Magnus Cort and Derek Gee show. The Dane of Uno-X Mobility was by far the strongest in the sprint in the first two stages, after which the Canadian took over the leader's jersey in the difficult time trial. He managed to increase his lead in the queen stage on Saturday, although the Guatemalan Sergio Geovani Chumil surprisingly beat him.

The final stage in northern Spain was another difficult one. The course constantly went up and down, with the final part being challenging. There were two climbs in the last twenty kilometers, after which there was also an uphill finish in the pilgrimage town of Santiago de Compostela. Gee had a 37-second lead on his closest challenger, Davide Piganzoli (Team Polti VisitMalta). Still, the stage was difficult enough to make it exciting, especially with the gravel sections along the way.

Rochas attacks

The day was marked by a breakaway group of nine, including Fredrik Dversnes (Uno-X Mobility), Clément Braz Afonso (Groupama-FDJ), and Martin Marcellus (VF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizanè), the number two of the second stage. They didn't get much breathing room: Soudal Quick-Step and Israel-Premier Tech closely watched them. As the finale drew closer, the gap was down to 45 seconds. The GC riders were fired up for the final stage.

Rémi Rochas (Groupama-FDJ) immediately attacked at the foot of the Alto de Lampai. He caught up to the leading group and immediately took the lead. James Knox (Soudal Quick-Step) started the chase, which meant his team no longer wanted to do any work. Uno-X Mobility saw opportunities for Cort, so the pace picked up in pursuit of the small Frenchman. He had difficulty in the valley, so the peloton got closer.

Young Soenens causes commotion

This meant that Rochas was already in trouble with 12 kilometers to go. It was time for the gravel sections, where complete chaos unfolded. Several riders tried to break away, but Israel-Premier Tech was still pulling together well. Leader Gee had to respond to 19-year-old Belgian Viktor Soenens in the youth jersey. The Quick-Step rider was extremely active, but Uno-X wanted a sprint with Cort, so things remained tied.

The Norwegian team kept control, and Team Polti VisitMalta contributed to their fast man, Giovanni Lonardi. The Italian team pulled ahead in the sprint in the final kilometer, but Cort again went very early. As had been the case all week, no one had the strength to keep up with him. He took his third stage victory. Carlos Canal (Movistar) came in second, ahead of Lonardi. In the end, Gee took the overall victory.
