Remco Evenepoel and his wife Oumi were a striking sight on Monday evening at the premiere of the Belgian film Patsers, which roughly translates to show-offs. It's a new movie about the Antwerp drug world. The event took place at the Kinepolis in Antwerp and attracted lots of attention — not only because of the film itself, but also because of the couple's stylish outfits.

Evenepoel, who is still recovering from an injury sustained in a collision with a BPost minibus at the end of last year, has already resumed his training schedule. For example, on February 8 he logged his first 100 kilometers in training again. Last week, he added even more to that: together with teammate Louis Vervaeke, he completed a fine 133-kilometer ride around Geraardsbergen.

On Monday, before the premiere, he added another notch. Evenepoel completed a solid 136-kilometer ride, but for the first time he also pushed himself to the limit again. "The first pushes," he captioned his Strava log. There were loads of PRs on Strava segments as well. Ultimately, the ride took four hours, averaging 34.1 kilometers per hour. Step by step, he is getting closer to his comeback. In short: the rehabilitation process is going well, but the Belgian is still far from race fitness. That’s why there was still time for other things.

Super expensive jacket and flashy sunglasses

One of the things that Evenepoel still has time for is a film premiere. Together with his girlfriend Oumi, he dressed to impress. They both went to the premiere fully in style, matching the theme of the film. Remco chose an eye-catching jacket from the luxury brand Casablanca Paris, with a price tag of no less than 1,700 (!) euros. Oumi, equally stylish, wore a short top from the same brand (also expensive), combined with a black jacket and trousers. Since the film is about show-offs, they both pulled out a matching pair of flashy sunglasses from their collection.

During an earlier ride, Evenepoel already went back to where things went wrong. "Back to where it all ended," the two-time Olympic champion shared during a 41.11-kilometer ride. Indeed, he was riding through Oetingen, the place where he collided with a post van’s door on December 3. The result of that collision? Bruises on both lungs, a dislocation of his collarbone, and three fractures.

That is why a little more patience is needed before Evenepoel will make his comeback. He is planning his return on April 18, when he hopes to be at the start of the Flèche Brabançonne. The other Ardennes classics are also on his schedule, with the highlight being the Tour de France in the summer, which is already marked with a big circle in his calendar. Whether he will reach these goals remains to be seen.
