For the first time since 2018, the Tour Down Under again ends with a 'criterium' through Adelaide. For the final GC, little seems to change, but the sprinters can still recharge for the 90-kilometer ordeal on a 4.5-kilometer circuit. IDLProCycling.com shows you what to expect!
There is not much to tell about the course. It involves twenty laps of 4.5 kilometers through Adelaide, where it traditionally becomes a sprint. In 2018, the World Tour race ended with this criterium, where André Greipel took the victory to Germany.
Monteflore Hill, a slope of three hundred meters at 3.7 percent, is the only hurdle, as far as you can describe it that way. Besides that, the lap has some curves, so even though the interests are less vital, the peloton still needs to be focused.

The riders will finish this Tour Down Under with 35 degrees Celsius in Adelaide!
Sam Welsford has already won two stages in the stage race on behalf of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, won the preliminary criterium, and is Australian criterium champion. He might have a chance with his lead-out, Van Poppel, although he has already crashed twice.
So, the other sprinters will also be aiming for a stage win. We first think of Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) and Matthew Brennan of Visma | Lease a Bike, who were also close. In the case of Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek), Simon Dehairs (Alpecin-Deceuninck), and Arne Marit (Intermarché-Wanty), the speed is also in the legs.

An attack seems to have little chance of success on a course like this. Jhonatan Narváez has the leader's jersey pretty securely in his hands, and better climbing sprinters like Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) and Corbin Strong (Israel-Premier Tech) won't immediately see a chance to hurt the competition either.
So we expect a straightforward sprint that will also include Matthew Walls (Groupama-FDJ), Campbell Stewart (Jayco AlUla), Tobias Lund Andresen (Picnic PostNL), Sam Watson (INEOS Grenadiers), Aaron Gate (XDS Astana) and Carlos Canal (Movistar).
Top favorites: Sam Welsford (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) and Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious)
Outsiders: Matthew Brennan (Visma | Lease a Bike), Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl-Trek), Simon Dehairs (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Arne Marit (Intermarché-Wanty)
Long shots: Bryan Coquard (Cofidis), Matthew Walls (Groupama-FDJ), Corbin Strong (Israel-Premier Tech), Campbell Stewart (Jayco AlUla), Tobias Lund Andresen (Picnic PostNL), Sam Watson (INEOS Grenadiers), Aaron Gate (XDS Astana) and Carlos Canal (Movistar)
