"Eight fearless riders are ready for an epic and unforgettable adventure," is how The Wolfpack's communications team introduced the eight riders, whose names were displayed beneath a large, aggressive-looking dinosaur.
After a strong Tour de France, where he was tasked with supporting team leader
Remco Evenepoel but still managed to finish an impressive fifth overall, Landa now has the opportunity to pursue his own success in his home race. Given his form (and stature), a top-three finish is within reach. Riders like Mattia Cattaneo, James Knox, and Mauri Vansevenant will need to support him in the high mountains, though each will also have the chance to chase their own luck from time to time. For top talent William Junior Lecerf, this will be his debut in a Grand Tour. The 21-year-old Belgian has already shown some impressive performances in shorter stage races earlier this year.
The rest of the lineup includes strong riders and road captains like
Kasper Asgreen, Casper Pedersen, and Louis Vervaeke. They could also join breakaways in certain stages. For Asgreen and Cattaneo, the two individual time trials will be particularly important.
