In November, it was announced that INEOS Grenadiers would officially partner with the continental Lotto Kern-Haus PSD Bank team. This Thursday, the partnership took a concrete form, as two top talents from the British formation, Danish riders Theodor Storm and Peter Øxenberg, were assigned to the German team with an eye toward their future development.

The collaboration isn’t entirely new — INEOS has worked with the German team in the past, with riders like Joshua Tarling transitioning from the Lotto Kern-Haus youth team. In a press release, INEOS explained how the arrangement for Storm and Øxenberg will work, resembling a loan system often seen in football. "They are planned to feature alongside their new teammates in a series of races and camps to continue their development and gain valuable experience, whilst maintaining coaching and support from INEOS Grenadiers performance staff."

"Perfect environment to prepare for the WorldTour"

Both Storm and Øxenberg are only 19 years old. Storm recently finished third in Paris-Roubaix Juniors, while Øxenberg secured second place in Eschborn-Frankfurt U23. Both riders are versatile and talented. INEOS Head of Performance Scott Drawer: "It’s an exciting moment to see Peter and Theodor joining up with Lotto Kern-Haus PSD Bank as our development partnership continues apace. We truly believe it’s going to be the perfect environment for both riders to progress and prepare for life in the WorldTour."

Meanwhile, the mood at Lotto Kern-Haus is equally enthusiastic. "With Peter and Theo we have two super talents. This partnership is off to a great start and we want to prepare the guys for their WorldTour careers in the best possible way." Storm, one of the young talents, expressed his excitement as well: "It’s a fantastic team, so to be able to compete alongside them, while continuing to work with the INEOS Grenadiers, is a perfect solution. I can’t wait to get started."
