INEOS Grenadiers has made drastic changes in staff management, reports the WorldTour team in a press release. Former cyclist Kurt-Asle Arvesen and former track team coach Mehdi Kordi are joining the staff.

Performance Director Scott Drawer joined the team in the spring. His responsibilities included analyzing the team's "performance environment." He did that for six months, and based on his insights, changes were made to the team's management structure.

"The new structure will focus on three different performance streams: grand tours/ stage races, classics/ one-day races, and future talent," INEOS Grenadiers explains the new strategy. "There will be a renewed focus on specialist coaching in time trials, sprint and power development, endurance training science, race strategy, aerodynamics and technology development."

Other sports inspire the new approach. "The approach has been informed and influenced by other disciplines, including track cycling and endurance sports, such as cross-country skiing, triathlon, and endurance running, to apply emerging practices in training and competition science."

Drawer: "We have a highly motivated, hungry and ambitious team"

Next, the team announced the necessary reinforcements to its staff. These include former rider (also from INEOS) Arvesen. Another former INEOS rider, Italian Leonard Basso, also joins the staff. INEOS hires Tom Helleman (exercise scientist and coach) from dsm-firmenich PostNL. Kordi, the former national coach of the Dutch track cyclist, joins as Head of Performance Support and Innovation, and finally, there is Luca Oggiano ( a world-leading expert on aerodynamics).

It won't stop with these names. The team will also soon present a new Head of Engineering and Technology. In addition, more new staff members will be announced before the start of the 2025 season. "We have a highly motivated, hungry, and ambitious team of coaches, sports directors, and performance specialists who want to create an environment that allows our riders to fulfill their potential," Drawer said. "That collective energy and desire will set us up for the challenges and opportunities that await in 2025."
