Last week, Tadej Pogacar had an amateur rider clinging to his wheel, and now it happened to Jonas Vingegaard. The Danish leader of Visma | Lease a Bike and teammate Wilco Kelderman had YouTuber Artem Shcherbyna behind him during his training camp in Spain. He saw it as the perfect opportunity to ask the former Tour winner questions.

It started as a quiet training run for the pair from the Dutch formation. The pace wasn't high (yet), so the influencer could catch up with the pros. They asked Vingegaard the question. "What is your maximum power in the sprint?" was the first question in the YouTube video. "800 watts" was the answer, but that soon turned out to be a lie. In the video, the Danish climber picks up the pace moments later. The amateur rider cannot keep up with the tempo, although he is pedaling almost 1100 watts himself. We are curious, though, about what metrics Vingegaard would achieve when he is in top form and not at training camp in the winter...

The amateur rider also had a rather strange but perhaps not entirely unjustified question. "Why don't you shave your legs in the winter? Everyone asked about it last year. You and Roglic don't shave your legs in the winter." Vingegaard answered briefly. "I shave them before the Tour." The YouTube video ended with a downhill segment, where the difference between amateur and pro became clear again. Where the videographer labeled it a "fast descent," Vingegaard was seemingly at ease on the bike. Had he taken risks, he would have created a considerable gap; that much is clear.

Pogacar got talents clinging to his wheel: "Got a pat on the back"

Pogacar thus experienced what his Danish rival was facing now, as he already had two amateurs clinging to his wheel during his KOM attack in Spain. Seventeen-year-old Quinten Muys tried to follow his pace earlier, but it didn't last long. "His team leaders did give me a pat on the back afterward," he said. During his attempt, co-talents Jenthe Verstraete and Dane Nicholas Birkholm joined Muys. At the top, they were rewarded with a selfie with the world champion.
