La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Jonas Vingegaard unlikely to return to action in 2024"

Vingegaard will soon become father for the second time, ruling out participation in the Vuelta a Espana at an early stage. The possibility of riding the World Championships in Zurich and/or the Tour of Lombardy in the fall was still open. Still, according to the reliable Ciro Scognamiglio, cycling journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, that chance has diminished.

Season 2024 Vingegaard marked by heavy fall in Basque Country

After the Tour de France, the Dane already announced that Clasica San Sebastian (did not finish) and the Tour of Poland (overall win) were the only confirmed races. Now, he and his wife Trine will focus on welcoming their second child.

Should Vingegaard have already concluded his 2024 season, he will do so with a final victory in Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour of Poland. The Dane also finished second in the Tour de France after an arduous rehabilitation due to his heavy fall in the Tour of the Basque Country. The 2024 season must also have been mentally demanding for the Dane because of that accident.
