While Milan–San Remo once again proved on Saturday that it’s no longer a sprinters’ classic, Classic Brugge–De Panne is doing its best to claim that identity—and with success, judging by the number of fast men lining up in Bruges this Wednesday. IDLProCycling.com lists the key names.
Two-time winner Jasper Philipsen is set to return for Alpecin-Deceuninck, assuming the provisional start list holds true. Last year, De Panne saw him clash with Soudal Quick-Step’s speedster Tim Merlier, who is also expected to start again in Bruges.
Meanwhile, Visma | Lease a Bike returns after a year of absence, bringing Olav Kooij, and Lidl-Trek, after underwhelming performances in the Opening Weekend and Milan–San Remo, is now hoping for a solid lead-out train for Jonathan Milan.

One day after the men's race, the women's Classic Brugge–De Panne is also on the schedule. Lorena Wiebes will be at the start as the freshly crowned winner of Milan–San Remo. She will face competition from, among others, Elisa Balsamo of Lidl-Trek and Charlotte Kool of Picnic–PostNL.
