Those Flemish classics follow each other in rapid succession. After Classic Brugge-De Panne (Wednesday) and E3 Saxo Classic (Friday), it is time for Gent-Wevelgem 2025 on Sunday, March 30. It's a race where sprinters will be especially tempted this year but not a member of the so-called Big Three. IDLProCycling.com shows you who will compete.
Last year in Wevelgem, Lidl-Trek-pion Mads Pedersen and world champion Mathieu van der Poel of Alpecin-Deceuninck battled it out. Pedersen will be there again, while Van der Poel has provisionally withdrawn. Jasper Philipsen is the leader of the Belgian team, although Van der Poel can, of course, still add the race to his program.
Wout van Aert will not be participating either. The Belgian from Visma | Lease a Bike has opted for some extra rest days after his three-week altitude training and has given the leadership to Olav Kooij. The Dutch rider will once again encounter many of the sprinters he sees throughout the year, such as Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) and Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick-Step.

The women's field is also strong. Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) are participating, although Marianne Vos, Puck Pieterse, and Demi Vollering are not on the provisional list.
