Marianne Vos follows in the footsteps of Wout van Aert and has also signed a contract for life with Visma | Lease a Bike. The Dutch team announced this on Saturday, the day before the Amstel Gold Race. In the announcement, Vos said she's looking forward to racing in yellow and black for many years to come. She hasn't decided when she'll retire yet. Vos has put that decision on hold for now.
"Team Visma | Lease a Bike feels like home to me – a place where I can be myself and where I can work every day with pleasure and motivation. I am grateful for the trust and support I receive here. Always pushing myself to the limit is still what I love to do the most. And in the coming years, I will do this with great joy in yellow and black. That's why I'm happy that we are continuing together with a commitment that has no end date," said the 37-year-old Vos.
Richard Plugge, CEO of the Dutch team, fully agrees. "Marianne is not only an exceptional champion, but also a role model for the entire team. Her drive to improve every day and her desire to continue developing herself perfectly align with who we are as a team. I am incredibly happy that she will remain part of the team until the end of her active career and continue building our story"
Vos turned professional in 2006 at the age of 18 and immediately won the World Championships in Salzburg that season, in the professional category. Since the start of the Visma | Lease a Bike women's team in 2021, she has won stages in the Giro Donne, Vuelta, and Tour de France Femmes, where she won the green jersey in 2024. In 2024, Vos added her 250th professional victory to her already impressive list of achievements, which includes major races such as the Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. She also became a world champion in several disciplines and won Olympic titles.

Visma | Lease a Bike relies on title defender Vos in Amstel Gold Race

On Sunday, we will also see Vos at the start of the Amstel Gold Race. She won last year and will have Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, the winner of Paris-Roubaix, with her. "It may sound like a cliché, but as a Dutch rider, racing the Amstel on home soil is something really special," says Vos. "I have good memories of the Cauberg, with so many spectators alongside the course. It truly gives you goosebumps," said the Dutch rider in a press release.
"I'm happy with how I've felt in recent weeks, and I hope to carry that into the Amstel Gold Race. As a team, we've already shown great things this spring, and I believe that's really where our strength lies: approaching the race together, supporting one another, and reaching the finale as a unit. Hopefully, we can build on that again this Sunday. We have a good feel for each other and can quickly adapt to the race situation. In a race like the Amstel Gold, there's often a breakaway that plays a decisive role. It's up to us to keep that under control and be ready as a team to respond to different scenarios."
On Friday, she finished second in the Brabantse Pijl. "Second place isn't what I came for, but I can put this performance into perspective. We did everything we could as a team, but the strongest rider won. It took some adjusting after Paris-Roubaix, but my form was good," said the Dutch rider.
