Tom Pidcock wasted no time in returning to his winning ways on the mountain bike, as he did on Sunday in La Nucia, Spain. The INEOS Grenadiers star clinched victory in the MTB Supercup in the Spanish coastal town, the first of seven heats in this competition, after a clever comeback race. On Saturday, INEOS also celebrated success in the women's category, with Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

Pidcock entered Sunday's race donning his rainbow jersey, which he earned at last year's World Championships. For a while, victory seemed out of reach, with Sam Gaze taking an early lead and building a significant advantage. Pidcock took some time to find his rhythm, but once he did, he steadily closed the gap with each passing lap.

As the final lap approached, Pidcock caught up with Gaze and swiftly left him behind. Thus, with a quick return to mountain biking, Pidcock triumphantly raised his hands in celebration. Following the weekend, Pidcock will switch back to the road bike, and we will see him in action again in the Tour of the Algarve.

"I had a lengthy training camp, so it was challenging to find my racing rhythm," Pidcock reflected in a brief statement afterward. "But I believe the fitness I built up showed in the end. The explosive climbs were still tough, but it's a fantastic way to kick off the year."
