Tadej Pogacar achieved a good result in the UAE Tour GC. The Slovenian finished third in the time trial, which Joshua Tarling won. The UAE Emirates XRG team leader was the first to set a target time that no other climber could beat. The Slovenian is now looking forward to tomorrow's stage, which finishes on Jebel Jais.
Pogacar was one of the first contenders to start the time trial and immediately showed he was in it to win it. In the end, only Stefan Bissegger and the eventual winner, Tarling, could keep up with him. So, it is only logical that Pogacar is satisfied. "This was the first real effort of the year, and I went all out. It was an incredibly fast time trial, and I am satisfied with the speed I reached and how my legs felt. It was a good day. Let's see what this means at the end of the week," he said.

The three-time Tour de France winner did not dare dream of a victory. "I knew it would be difficult to compete with Bissegger and Tarling because they really fly on courses like today's."
Tomorrow, stage 3, awaits the GC riders. The first mountain top finish in this UAE Tour is on the menu. "Tomorrow is a beautiful stage for me. I have fond memories of Jebel Jais; I once won there. I think it will be a day for a sprint between the climbers because that's how it always ends – which is quite funny."
The Slovenian leader expects no surprises tomorrow but rather a stage that should suit him particularly well. "But it's a good experience. Of course, there can be surprises, but normally not. I'm looking forward to it because this stage suits me very well," Pogacar concludes.
