Colnago has revealed the new UAE Team Emirates bike. A suitable bike made for world champion Tadej Pogacar: with the rainbow colors over the bike, it looks classy. The bike is aerodynamic, so the riders will be on different bikes in the high mountains, but at least for the sprints and classics, they know where they stand.
The Colnago Y1Rs, as the bike is called, is very aerodynamic: you can see on X that virtually no surface works against the wind. Pogacar's version, with the white color and rainbow stripes on top of the frame and front fork, is impressive. At least the bike won't be a problem next year!
In collaboration with the riders of UAE Team Emirates and women's team UAE Team ADQ, it was concluded that last season's bike was not aerodynamic enough. Colnago has taken that very seriously, as the manufacturer claims the wind-defying bike saves as much as 20 extra watts at 50 kilometers per hour. This is due to more aerodynamic features than last year's bike. Also, the frame is stiffer than ever. However, it is 242 grams heavier than its predecessor, but that should still result in a positive balance.
The handlebars, too, are designed to minimize airflow separation and improve stability at high speeds. Colnago showcases a gull-wing design, making the handlebars aerodynamic and giving stability at high speeds. The seat post has also been modified. A Y-shaped joint absorbs vibrations extra well, which should improve comfort. All this comes at a price: if you want to impress on the same bike as Pogacar, you must pay between 12,300 euros and 16,500 euros...
In addition, the Emirates team welcomes Shimano as an official partner. The team has used the group sets for the past two years, so a sponsorship deal is now being added. The team will use Shimano's advanced products until 2028. "We are very proud and excited to begin this partnership with Shimano. We are an innovative team and always looking to be at the forefront with our equipment. To compete at the highest level, you need to be using the best materials and combining our expertise in cycling together. I feel we can go on to achieve great things over the coming years," Mauro Gianetti says.
