Promising Visma | Lease a Bike talent Nordhagen makes debut with main Dutch team

Jorgen Nordhagen cannot compete with Jarno Widar and others in the Tour de l'Avenir this week due to Norwegian absence, but the Visma | Lease a Biketalent will have his debut with the Dutch primary team instead. Indeed, he has been included in the six-man formation for the Lidl-Deutschland Tour.

Nordhagen will be a full-time Visma | Lease a Bike prominent team member from 2025 but will now debut. He does so alongside compatriot Johannes Staune-Mittet, Dutchmen Milan Vader and Tim van Dijke, Briton Tom Gloag, and Italian Dario Belletta, also from the training team.

Nordhagen's peers are competing in the Tour de l'Avenir, but because Norway did not send a selection, Nordhagen could not participate there. The 19-year-old talent won a prestigious Italian U 23 race just the previous week and finished third in this year's Tour Alsace and Liège-Bastogne-Liège for U23s.

However, the competition in Germany will be different, with Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) and Lidl-Trek duo Jonathan Milan and Mads Pedersen, among others, at the start. The latter got fit in time after a fall in the Tour of Poland. "That wasn't ideal, of course, but I'm okay. It was the right choice to give up because of the Lidl Deutschland Tour."

"We are here with a strong team, and we want to perform in Lidl's home race," said the Lidl-Trek leader, who has also made a big goal of this year's European Championships.
