The Tour de France lineup for Red Bull BORA-hansgrohe – as the team will be known from the Tour de France onwards – has been revealed, completing the participant list for La Grande Boucle. There are few surprises in Ralph Denk’s squad. Primoz Roglic is the clear leader, as expected, and will be well-supported. The Slovenian, who already has the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España to his name, hopes to finally clinch the much-coveted Tour de France victory this year — potentially his last good chance to do so — after coming tantalizingly close in 2020, only to see Tadej Pogacar snatch victory at the last moment.
Roglic will have a strong climbing support with
Jai Hindley,
Aleksandr Vlasov,
Bob Jungels and
Nico Denz. If Roglic underperforms, Hindley and Vlasov could also pursue their own chances.
Marco Haller and
Danny van Poppel, who had to withdraw from the Giro earlier this year, will lead the team on flat stages, while
Matteo Sobrero is the versatile all-rounder within the squad.
Along with the announcement of the eight riders, new team sponsor Red Bull was officially presented, which of course also means a new jersey! The green of hansgrohe almost entirely disappears from the kit, replaced by a significant amount of black, as seen in the first photos.
