Climbing, climbing and more climbing – that’s the motto for the Tour
of the Alps. This five-day stage race is considered the perfect preparation
for the Giro d'Italia, so every general classification rider must reveal their
cards. In De Leiderstrui takes you
through all details of this race! Last year,
Romain Bardet won the overall race on behalf of Team DSM. The
Frenchman did not win a single stage, but on average he was the best. Bardet
held off Michael Storer and, yes indeed, Thymen Arensman in the final
classification. We all know what a great season it eventually turned out to be
for Arensman...

Stage 1, Monday, April 17th: Rattenberg - Alpbach (127.5 km)
Jack Haig (Bahrain
Victorious) and Hugh Carthy (EF-Education EasyPost) attacked during the tough
finale of the first stage, but Tao Geoghegan Hart (INEOS Grenadiers) took the
victory. The Englishman passed his compatriot Carthy in the final meters. Felix
Gall (AG2R Citroën Team) finished second, two seconds behind.
