Roxanne Bertels – Mathieu van der Poel's girlfriend – shows how she experienced the final of Milan-Sanremo through Whoop data

Mathieu van der Poel brilliantly won Milan-Sanremo on Saturday. The Dutch rider took the lead on the Cipressa ahead of Tadej Pogacar and Filippo Ganna and finished it in style 25 kilometers later in Sanremo. His girlfriend, Roxanne Bertels, was there to see it, although it did cause her some stress.
On Instagram, Bertels shares videos and photos from her day in Sanremo. We see Mathieu fall into her arms after his victory lap and celebrate the win together. There are some behind-the-scenes photos and a beautiful image with mother-in-law Corinne Poulidor.
But also a fragment of her Whoop data, which shows that she had elevated stress levels for 19 minutes starting at 10:50 AM EST. Coincidence? Certainly not, because that happens to be the timeframe of the finish of Milan-Sanremo.
Van der Poel also responded to his girlfriend's message: "Out of the ordinary ❤️," said the Dutch rider!

- I am not sure if it is the hardest to win. In Flanders and Roubaix well before the finish the Peleton will be decimated and the race will normally be won by the best rider of the day or maybe 2nd or 3rd in case of a mechanical or unlucky break especially in case of Roubaix. In San Remo just before the finish there will still be several riders in contention and they are hard to ditch. For the best riders it is a race hard to win since it is not so selective. But if you are not a top 5 rider but still a top 10 rider this race is your best change to win.
