Van Aert proud of 'quick switch' and of Tratnik's attack at Visma: "Not sure if I was going to win the sprint"

Wout van Aert did not win Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, but Visma | Lease a Bike did, after another impressive display of racing by the Dutch team. "It was a beautiful day, I'm glad we finished it", said the Belgian in the flash interview.

Van Aert had everything under control with his team. Visma | Lease a Bike started early, had five men in a large group of 32, and three in a final breakaway group of six. However, when Matteo Jorgenson broke away from that group and couldn't maintain his effort, everything came back together. Did it slip through their fingers there? "No, we weren't panicking. With the guys coming back, we still had a lot of men in the first group."

Tratnik was ultimately the one who made the right move with Nils Politt of UAE-Team Emirates. "We quickly switched plans and started attacking again. That's what I'm most proud of, that we understand each other so well during the race. Jan's attack was the perfect moment because it would have been very hard to control from there. With guys like De Lie, I wasn't one hundred percent sure I was going to win the sprint. So it was good to keep attacking."
