Mathieu van der Poel is good at just about any sport he tries. Cycling is his main focus, of course, but the Dutchman is also great at soccer, golf, running, skiing, and more. Basketball wasn’t on the list — until now. And, of course, he’s good at that too.
While engaged in some activities for Zwift over the past few days, the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider came across a basketball hoop. Naturally, he gave it a try — and scored a perfect shot. He didn’t waste any time letting Freddy Ovett, his regular training partner in Spain, know about it.
Presenter Matt Stephens, who was there, filmed the moment and shared it on social media. "Looks like Mathieu is pretty good at basketball too — and he made sure Freddy knows it," Stephens joked.
Van der Poel is now preparing for the cyclocross season. However, he hasn’t announced which races he’ll compete in yet.
Presenter Matt Stephens filmed the whole thing and posted that on social media. "Looks like Mathieu is pretty good at basketball too, and he wants Freddy to know it," he laughed.
Van der Poel is currently in preparation for the cyclo-cross winter, but he has not yet officially announced which cyclo-cross races he will be riding.
