What an insane time! Jonathan Milan breaks opponent's world record in Individual Pursuit finals

Jonathan Milan won the Individual Pursuit at the Track Cycling World Championships in Denmark. And he did so in a most powerful way. The Italian defeated Britain's Josh Charlton in a world-record-breaking performance. Milan succeeded his fellow countryman Filippo Ganna as world champion.

It wasn't immediately expected that Milan would win. In the qualifiers, Charlton had broken Ganna's world record, clocking a time just under 3:59 minutes, at an average speed of over sixty kilometers per hour.

Milan, who is also a successful sprinter for Lidl-Trek on the road, started strong and managed to resist the fatigue enough that Charlton could no longer catch him. Milan’s time even constituted a world record: 3:59.15. Charlton had to settle for silver and couldn't match his earlier performance, recording a time above four minutes in the final. The bronze went to former hour record holder Dan Bingham.
