We’re well into January, which means the new cycling season is just around the corner. This is the time when many ProTeams eagerly await news about which major races they will participate in during 2025. Curious about which teams are guaranteed entry to which races? Check out the overview provided by IDLProCycling.com below.
In 2025, the eighteen UCI WorldTour teams will automatically receive invitations to all UCI WorldTour races. Additionally, the top two ranked UCI ProTeams from 2024 — Lotto and Israel-Premier Tech — also receive automatic invitations to all races. However, they are not obligated to accept these invitations, whereas WorldTour teams must. In turn, Uno-X, ranked third in the ProTeams classification, is entitled to invitations for all one-day races.
Finally, race organizers can distribute a limited number of wildcard entries, with the exact number varying by race. Organizers often choose to grant wildcards to domestic teams or teams featuring local favorites. These riders and teams can generate extra media attention for the events.
For Grand Tours, stricter criteria have been implemented this season. Teams must rank within the top 40 of the UCI ProTeams classification by the end of 2024 to be eligible for an invitation. Team Solution Tech - Vini Fantini failed to meet this criterion and is therefore excluded from participating in the Grand Tours. For 2026, the requirements will become even stricter: only teams ranked in the top 30 by the end of 2025 will be eligible for Grand Tour invitations.
