It’s now officially confirmed: Tom Pidcock will not compete in cyclo-cross this winter, as he announced in an Instagram post. The British star rider has chosen to fully focus on his recent move to the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team. This means that this cyclo-cross season will go without the full line-up of "The Big Three," leaving fans to anticipate (only) the four battles between Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel—a showdown between “The Big Two.”

"On Sunday, I watched my first cyclo-cross race of the season," Pidcock begins. "And it reminded me that I probably needed to officially announce that I won’t be racing in cyclo-cross this year."

The reason is clear: his turbulent switch to his new Swiss team. For Pidcock, 2024 has been far from smooth sailing—it’s been more like navigating a stormy sea. "With so many changes, I want to make sure I take the time to adjust to my new environment and really get to know my new team and teammates."

However, the 25-year-old Brit ended his post on a hopeful note: "But for now, my plan is to return to cyclo-cross next year."
