Thibau Nys will wear his new European champion jersey for the first time next Sunday in the Rapencross in Belgium. The Belgian from Baloise Trek Lions was not on the initial start list for the cyclo-cross for the X2O Trophy, but his father Sven announced on Instagram that Thibau would indeed be at the start. The organization has also confirmed this.
Nys became the European elite champion last Sunday in Pontevedra, Spain, by beating home favorite Felipe Orts. While some other riders are taking a short break or not in the field, the brand-new European champion will be on the scene next weekend.
Father Sven, with whom IDLProCycling.com spoke at length on Tuesday about the aftermath of the European Championships, confirms on Instagram that Nys will compete in the Rapencross in Lokeren (Belgium) on Sunday. "First race," he captioned a photo of Thibau.
Meanwhile, Thibau shows on social media that he was training in his European Champion jersey on Thursday; on Sunday, we will find out what his jersey looks like.
